Poetry as Protest

In times of turmoil and political crisis, poetry can act as a source of power and communication. From women’s suffrage to the Civil Rights Movement, poetry is valuable because it is compact and easily shared. This class will break down political poems, discuss activism within poetry, and dedicate class time for students to write and share their own poems.

This class is taught by a graduate student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing.
