Mister Rogers

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

How much does television—does all of America—miss the kindness and moral compass of Fred Rogers? Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville reminds us with the affecting, critically praised Won’t You Be My Neighbor (2018; PG-13). Now the top-grossing biographical documentary of all time, it tells the story of the soft-spoken minister, puppeteer, writer, and public television pioneer whose show on PBS was beamed into homes across the nation daily for more than 30 years.

The Library and KCPT-Kansas City PBS screen the film as part of the Indie Lens Pop-Up community cinema initiative. Honoring Fred Rogers’ commitment to children, a Neighbor Resource Fair before and after the screening offers information on local organizations and volunteer opportunities for helping our youngest neighbors.
