Plaza Branch and Central Library will open late at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 due to the Kansas City Marathon.
Shelf Life is a popular show-and-tell storytelling event hosted by writer and director David Wayne Reed, where people share the stories behind the weird and wonderful objects that have shaped their lives.
Your stuff. Your story. Your Shelf Life.
The show returns to the Library as part of the Summer Reading Program with stories and objects centered on the theme of “team," such as training with the NFL, skating to victory, and building a dream on Microsoft Teams. Featured storytellers include Ryan Wray, Abby Wray, Gina McLainPeregrine Honig, Rick Wyatt, and Reed.
Reed, the host and producer of the storytelling series, grew up in rural Kansas. His films, Eternal Harvest, and land and flower, are inspired by narratives of landscape, memory, transformation, and time, and have been screened around the world.
