Plaza Branch and Central Library will open late at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 due to the Kansas City Marathon.
In this latest installment of the Library’s Making a Great City series, David Edwards shares details of his work in Atlanta, Georgia, where he strives to align policies and services that create urban core neighborhoods where people want to live, work, and shape their futures. He discusses the opportunities and challenges associated with a place-based approach to governing.
Edwards is a founding executive director of the Center for Urban Research, a professor of practice in the School of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a policy advisor for neighborhoods in the Office of the Mayor in Atlanta. He's also the former chief executive officer of Purpose Built Communities, a nonprofit focused on revitalizing distressed urban neighborhoods.
This program is made possible by the Kirk Foundation, JE Dunn, Mid-America Regional Council, Kissick Construction, Driven Development, Multistudio, David & Cathi Brain, the City of Kansas City, City Manager's Office, and LISC.
