Redistricting: What You Need to Know

Presented By
Steve Kraske, Samuel Wang, Edward D. Greim, Savannah Hawley-Bates, & Zane Irwin
"There are very few places in the country where this discussion will be as important as in Kansas City."
-- Samuel Wang, co-founder of the Princeton Gerrymandering Project

As Missouri works through various legal and constitutional challenges to a redistricting plan that would likely eliminate one of the state’s two Democrat-held congressional seats, legislators in neighboring Kansas are moving forward with efforts that could eliminate that state’s lone Democrat-held seat.

Steve Kraske, host of KCUR’s Up to Date, leads a panel discussion about the state of local redistricting efforts, the legality and impact of those efforts here and nationwide in states such as Texas and California, and the likely political outcomes.

Panelists include:

  • Samuel Wang, professor of neuroscience at Princeton University and founder of the Princeton Gerrymandering Project
  • Edward D. Greim, Graves Garrett Greim LLC law firm
  • Savannah Hawley-Bates, KCUR’s local government reporter
  • Zane Irwin, political reporter for the Kansas News Service and KCUR

Co-presented by KCUR.
