Plaza Branch and Central Library will open late at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 due to the Kansas City Marathon.
This live musical and spoken word event features six women composers, brought to life by Bach Aria Soloists and actor Cinnamon Schultz Paulette.
The program offers a glimpse into the private lives of composers such as Hildegard von Bingen, Lili Boulanger, and Florence B. Price, through letters, journals, and published works, and celebrates their extraordinary contributions.
Bach Aria Soloists are known for their multi-genre collaborations and present a concert series exploring the ongoing influence of Johann Sebastian Bach, his contemporaries, and those he inspired. Artistic director, founder, and violinist Elizabeth Suh Lane leads the ensemble, which also includes Elisa Williams Bickers on harpsichord, organ, and piano, and Grammy Award-winning soprano Lindsey Lang.
Actor, director, and educator Cinnamon Schultz Paulette has performed on stages across Kansas City, including Coterie Theatre, Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, Kansas City Actors Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Theater for Young America, and Unicorn Theatre. She’s also worked in radio, television, and film, including Winter’s Bone, and serves as the head acting professor at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
