Plaza Branch and Central Library will open late at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 due to the Kansas City Marathon.
The Art in the Loop Project returns for its 13th year, featuring a curated outdoor exhibition of temporary art and performances in partnership with the KC Streetcar.
Stop by the kickoff event at the Central Library for art, live music, and an opportunity to meet the 2026 performing and visual artists who focused on this year’s theme: Home.
Throughout the evening, experience music, spoken word, and storytelling, with performances by the Ryan Marquez Trio, Hood Dude Food Review, and Beatrice C. Henry.
This year, Art in the Loop overlaps with World Cup matches in Kansas City, which are expected to draw an estimated 650,000 visitors to the metro area. The theme invites artists to reflect on the places, people, and experiences that shape us.
Art in the Loop runs June through October and includes visual artwork based on photography, painting, and digital illustrations, along with performances in dance, spoken word, hip-hop, theater, and more.
