Plaza Branch and Central Library will open late at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 due to the Kansas City Marathon.
Enjoy live performances and meet this year's artists at the Art in the Loop closing event.
2026 marked the 13th annual Art in the Loop Project, a curated outdoor exhibition of temporary artworks from June to September created in partnership with the KC Streetcar Authority, bringing cultural experiences to downtown residents, visitors, and workers.
Art directors Jade Osborne and Khyneesha Edwards lead a presentation and reflect on this year's art and performances, and artists share their work and talk about their experiences.
The event also features music by Ernest Melton and Friends, as well as work by multimedia artist Socorro Reyes Ramirez.
The reception and live performances begin at 5:30 p.m., with the main program starting at 6 p.m.
This year’s theme, Home, invited artists to explore the places, people, and dreams that help us reconnect with ourselves. A familiar sight, smell, sound, taste, or touch can make us feel at home. For many, home means comfort, refuge, and belonging. For others, it brings up more complex feelings and shapes how we experience and grow through life.
The closing event is co-hosted by the Art in the Loop Foundation, the Downtown Council, and the KC Streetcar Authority.
